Standing out from the diverse array of unique and innovative music programs offered by Madison Meadow Music is Scotty’s “crown jewel” of all his educational offerings: The Backcountry Wilderness Music Expeditions.™
Launched in the summer of 2016, the expeditions take his renowned music workshops out of the city and into the woods, where the four “tracks” of the Madison Meadow Music curriculum are ready and waiting to be experienced, far away from the distractions of the modern world and surrounded by the majestic beauty of snow-capped mountains, rippling streams, and alpine lakes.
The set of exercises for the Rhythm and the Ear-Training/Singing courses are presented and practiced as a group while walking along the trail. These initial concepts are then reinforced in the Keyboard and Fretboard courses during snack breaks or after pitching camp, as each participant is easily equipped with a small, lightweight battery-powered keyboard and either a “backpacker” guitar or ukulele, along with all of the course supplements pre-loaded on an iPad or other tablet device.
Although the Backcountry Wilderness Music Expeditions can be customized for any ages and skill levels, they are designed to be the perfect way for someone who has “always wanted to play music, but never got around to it.” We guarantee that even if you go in knowing absolutely nothing about music, you will come out being able to hold down a part in one or more of the basic rock instruments: keys, guitar, bass, and drums.
There has never been a more exciting and effective way to learn music from scratch!
