One of the most exciting new programs now offered by Madison Meadow Music are the “Outdoor Family Music Camps” held every summer in the Oregon Cascades at the Little Lava Lake Campground, with more venues to be announced on the horizon.
These camps are an exciting way in which Scotty is able to combine his life of music education with his life-long love of mountain wilderness. Yet another way to present his fun innovative music curriculum in a variety of engaging nontraditional settings, the Outdoor Family Music Camps are already a hit.
The camps are offered in three day stretches, with participants welcome to sign up for all three or just show up for any one or two of the days. The diverse format and wonderful staff allow for a lot of flexibility amongst the pallet of games, activities, workshops, and jam sessions, either on-site or on the day hikes along nearby trails to easily accessible lakes.
The scheduled musical activities are interspersed with free time to enjoy all sorts of fun activities along the lakeside or in the campground.
Parents are invited to participate in any of the activities at any time, or just hang back and do their own thing. It’s a great place to read a book, take a nap, or take a canoe or kayak out on the water!
Integral to the camp’s success is the amazing team of assistant coaches: Scotty's top students, now in high school or college, who have been trained to help teach at any of Scotty's group events. These young people are all absolutely remarkable, not only in their understanding Scotty's materials and curriculum and teaching style, but in their character as well. They are all amazing musicians and performers in their own right, but almost more importantly, they all radiate the shining personalities that any parent would want their own kids to be inspired by!uni
The camps are $75/day per participating student (no extra charge for “auditing” parents. Midday snacks will be provided, but families will provided their own breakfast and dinner.
